After my mother passed in December 2024, I reflected on her wish for me to find companionship again. That reflection inspired a mission.
Black Later Daters was created as a community for Black adults 45+ who want more opportunities to connect face-to-face.
Through thoughtfully planned social experiences, we bring people together to build friendships, explore companionship, enjoy meaningful conversations, and create relationships rooted in shared culture and life experience.
This is not about swiping, algorithms, or forced interactions.
It is about creating a welcoming space where connections can happen naturally.
As a GenXer, I understand what it feels like to navigate this stage of alone – even while surrounded by people.
I have gone to dinner and thought, “This would taste better and enjoyable if I had someone to share it with”.
Black Later Daters grew from that feeling.
I wanted to create the kind of community I was looking for: a place filled with laughter, conversation, friendship, companionship, and the possibility of love.
You do not have to know exactly what you are looking for before you arrive. You simply have to be open to meeting new people and creating new possibilities.
